1 March 2021 - Message to clients, residents, whanau of residents & stakeholders

Dear clients, residents, whanau of residents and other stakeholders of Stepping Stone Trust,

As you will be aware, Auckland is once again at Alert Level 3, with the rest of New Zealand at Alert Level 2 including us. To learn more about the Alert Levels visit https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-system/. These Alert Levels came into effect from 6am on Sunday 28 February and will be in place for 7 days. Please click here for more information about Alert Level 3 and Alert Level 2.

Our SMT (Senior Management Team) met this morning to discuss and ensure we are compliant with our obligations around Covid alert level changes and will continue to communicate regularly to ensure procedures are in place to keep our residents and staff safe. This panui (newsletter) is to update you on how Stepping Stone Trust will be managing services while at Covid-19 Alert Level 2 and actions taken to safeguard our residents and staff.

Guests will be asked to maintain social distancing at all times. There will be screening in place for any illness or travel or other connection with level 3 areas e.g. Auckland. If our guests go out of our facilities when they are having a Respite admission they must adhere to social distancing and mask-wearing on public transport as per level 2 status. All outside community activities for our residents have ceased for the moment, however, staff will ensure residents are entertained and able to participate in regular local walks, while maintaining social distancing.

Our groceries will continue to be purchased online, as usual, to limit possible infection transmission possibilities. Guests will be required to keep the one-metre distancing at mealtimes and while watching TV together therefore may be required to spread out around the building to achieve this.

Residents requiring transportation to appointments will continue to be taken by car but with 1-metre distancing, (front seat / back seat arrangement).  Any case managers who need to come onto sites are pre-covid-19 screened and their visits pre-arranged and social distancing managed. Staff will be dedicated to one site as much as possible, and we will limit our use of outside staffing agencies, and only to certain sites.

We really appreciate your support with all the regulations we have had to comply with, it is in all our best interests to take all reasonable precautions possible to stamp Covid-19 out and save lives. Please look after yourselves. Stay at least 2 metres away from others you don’t know, and 1 metre from people you regularly interact with.  Stay at home if you can and wash your hands between every interaction and between tasks. Be kind to yourselves and other people, these are testing times for us all. If you have any specific concerns or questions that you think we can answer for you, please ask the staff on-site, via phone or email.

Best wishes from the team at Stepping Stone Trust
